Tai Solarin University of Education (Tasued) Students Protest

The students of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijebu Ode led by the SU President, Comrade Osas paraded the school premises this evening protesting over what they tagged 'No School Fees, No Exams' policy of the current Vice Chancellor of the school, Prof. Mrs Obilade Yemisi who
is fondly called 'Aunty Yemisi' by the students. The VC whom the students claimed to be callous and dictating since she assumed the office had recently made it clear to the students that any student who fails to pay school fees before the examination risks failure because no debtors will be allowed into the examination hall and as a result, they stand to fail the course. the decision however did not go down well with student as they protested.
According to an eye witness, ''the protest was peaceful and well organised even though it came on a short notice until a security official shot at one of them. Fortunately the bullet did not penetrate the body of the student who was shot as a result of reasons best known to the student. only his cloth was apparently torn by the bullet. This action by the security official provoked the student as they descended on him and beat him. Some school properties were destroyed. It would have been worse if not for the intervention of the mobile police''
